THE P.E.R.F.O.R.M FORMULA IN MANAGING A SUCCESSFUL JOB CAREER:
In this highly competitive world increasing workplace pressure is a common thing. Whether you are working for a local company or an MNC, the growing workload is almost similar. Customer orientation, customer expectations, and customer satisfaction, etc. are demanding ultimate commitment from organizations.
Overcoming all the hindrances and rising to the occasion has become an essential and desirable trait among employees. But the problem is- how to achieve your professional targets, without getting affected by your personal goals?
After a deep brain-storming, I have discovered a few key aspects that can be very much helpful in managing our job requirements effortlessly. I have named it as the P.E.R.F.O.R.M formula. It stands for: Passion, Ethics, Responsibility, Familiarity, Optimism, Risk-taking ability, and Motivation. Let’s discuss them:
You should always be passionate about what you know or care about. Your passion helps you gain respect in the eyes of your subordinates. People will start following you seeing your involvement, your attachment, your passion for your activities.
All employers look for a reliable employee. Your dedication, discipline, and determination can portrait your philosophy towards life. Adhering to work ethics defines your endurance in a job career.
It is always true that responsibility comes with power, authority, and achievement. All employees should be aware of their responsibilities towards the organization. We all know that “ability without accountability and responsibility is a liability. So an employee must try to be an asset for the organization than a liability.
Educational qualifications, professional certifications or even internal recommendations wouldn’t be sufficient to help you in getting your job done. But your familiarity with the tools/ machines/ industry can do the job. Hence, you should invest your time and resources on training, learning as well as upgrading your skills to keep yourself competent.
It will be very difficult for us to do even a simple task if our mindset or approach is negative. Being negative, we can’t involve ourselves in any kind of process. It weakens our confidence and enthusiasm. As a result, we fail in accomplishing the job targets. Hence with a positive frame of mindset and optimistic approach we can embrace any kind of challenges. We should always chant in our mind- “I can do it, I will do it & I am doing it…”
Risk is involved in everything. No risk, No gain. But the term ‘Risk’ is very tactical. How technically upgraded and resourceful we may be, there exist some limitations, beyond which we can’t advance. Again taking less risk in our decision and activities can prove us incompetent. Hence, we must have to assess our abilities and strengths and figure out our weaknesses, so that we can adopt risks without any harm.
It’s our motivation level, which works like a fuel in everything we do. No motivation leads us to no participation and hence no expectations and no satisfaction. Hence, we must follow certain principles to stay motivated and perform our duties with high spirits. Those are:
- Setting measurable targets.
- Ignoring valueless things.
- Focusing on valid things.
- Listing of our achievements.
- Celebrating the success of others. Etc.
